Sydney Weekender Autumn feature and April school holidays hours

Mike Whitney and the team from Sydney Weekender have done a feature on the Snowy Mountains in Autumn and Eucumbene Trout Farm is included. Mike caught some great trout, although the big one got away! It was great fun working with the terrific team and this will air on the 28th of April so have a look.

Australian Seafood Aware 2017

We are excited about being awarded a bronze for our smoked trout at the RAS NSW for 2018. This is a great addition to our gold medals and trophy from the Australian Food Awards in 2017. Our smoked trout and mousse are a big hit with visitors to the farm, while we did sell out over Easter we endeavour to always be available.

Recent records for trout caught on the farm are a 2.1kg hooked on the 5 November on Stony Lake, with a 1.0kg on 9th April from the ponds; a recent 1.57kg hooked on the 31 March from Stony Lake is truly awesome. Patience prevails when catching these trout.

It is important to remember trout are not native to Australia and struggle with water temps outside the preferred 5-15 degrees. But this is what marks hooking a trout a fun recreational catch as if they don’t like conditions they close down and take a lot to get excited.

We were very pleased that the National Parks had a visit to the farm to see what we offer here and update on our recent activities.

Trading Hours

We are open every day of the April school holidays and welcome visitors for a bit of fishing. Please be advised we require booking for 5 or more to avoid disappointment. Please note there wasps at the farm as there are in the region generally.

We wish to advise that due to the historical lowest visitor numbers traditionally in May, a very quiet month, so we will be closed, however we will open for arranged booking for 5 or more persons wishing to fishing. So just telephone, 6456 8866 in advance please. We will have normal trading hours from June 1.
