Dissolved Oxygen levels in Water

The oxygen levels in the water is critical to the condition of the trout and reflects the health of the aquatic ecosystem. This does not represent the oxygen in the water molecules rather the quantity of that oxygen.
The colder the water the higher the dissolved oxygen level is and it decreses rapidly as the temperature increases. Currently in this ideal winter cold water the trout are very happy and why Eucumbene Trout Farm is located some 1100 meters above sea level. We measure the dissolved oxygen and current levels are around 10.7mgs a litre or 95% at the farm.
We are taking further steps to keep the temperature down in the water with shade cloth to reduce the sun on the water in the ponds for the summer months.
